Maison&Objet 2025
Maison&Objet in Paris was the little dose of inspiration I needed this dark, wet January. I felt so inspired by walking around the streets of Paris visiting all the furniture and fabric showrooms as well as the actual trade show in the exhibition centre.
The great thing about Maison&Objet is seeing the new product launches. I don’t follow trends, but it’s good to see the direction the brands are going in. There were lots of soft organic shapes, the seating and furniture had rounded edges, from occasional chairs to side units and dining tables. The colour pallets were neutral tones with no grey insight. Think warm biscuit tones with pops of terracotta and deep reds everywhere in textural materials with multiple layers.
A brand at Maison&Objet that caught my eye was Ethnic craft , their wood furniture was beautifully crafted and their designs were simple and executed well. Their craftsmanship really echoed with the quality my clients look for and I hoping to use a few of pieces for projects I’m working on this this year. The spindle bench with its clean lines and curved accents I can envisage in a hallway or at the end of a bed
Having met Faye Toogood last year when she was showing at the Paris fashion week, I was keen to see her exhibition at Mason. Faye was names at Designer of the Year 2025 and it is fantastic to see a British designer with such a present at the show.
There seemed to be less lighting than in past years which was a shame as I love to see the scale of lights at shows from brands you can't usually see in London. However By Eve’s new collection was beautifully displayed with their cluster of lights. Each lamp is individually crafted, the result is a completely unique product each time. Currently only selling via Interior designers this Belgian brand is on my watch list.
Day two, I kicked off the morning with a coffee in hand, visiting the showrooms and pop ups around Paris Maison&Objet in the city. First stop, Vandra, the most beautiful rugs, expertly woven in gorgeous colours with metallic threads running through them, creates beautiful works of art for the floor. Do have a look at their website as its hard to choose a favourite from this inspiring Swedish brand .
It was such a treat to be wandering around all the Parisian fabric houses and one of my highlight was tea and cake with the team at Christopher Farr cloth in a Parisian apartment, viewing their new collaboration with French artist Veronique de Soultrait. I absolutely loved meeting Veronique, chatting with her about how she had created the artwork which was the base of her new collection with Christopher Farr. The colours and shapes felt very fresh and I’m calling in samples asap.
I ended my trip with a visit to the recently reopened Notre Dame. The restoration work is incredible, a team of 1,200 skilled craftsmen have managed to return it to its former glory within five years, if you go to Paris do go and have a look and have a look (I’ve alway got my eye on good furniture pieces) the new contemporary wooden chairs designed and made by Bosc they have used through the Cathédrale.
I hope you enjoy this little piece of Parisian inspiration, I look forward to sharing with you some of the fabric and furniture that caught my eye in my projects this year.
Best wishes from Nikki
